This Week Broke Me
Hey hey! Ho ho! This May-cember has got to go!
Hi,
Every year I go into May like a naive- possibly amnesia-ridden- child, thinking “oh, it won’t be so bad this year. We’ll just be super organized and it will all work out fine!” (It embarrassed me to even type that out. The delulu was delulu-ing.) Somehow, predictably, it is definitely not all “working out fine.” As I write this, there’s a pack of wild hyenas sitting outside my office door, preparing to pounce if I don’t finish my to-do list. Or at least that’s what my anxiety is telling me, and when does it lie?
So I did what any super-organized person would do in this situation and complained about it repeatedly on social media.
Did it help? No.
Was it fun? Yes, until some defensive PTA moms came after me on TikTok.
Will I do it again? Undoubtedly.
Here’s one post, if you missed it.
Here’s the one that made the PTA take a hit out on me.
And here’s an oldie but a goodie that made me laugh and forget it all for a while.
Until the next break,
Leslie
I just joined a group of more than 400 content creators, called Y’all Vote, started by the incredible Amanda Nelson from Amanda’s Mild Takes! Our goal is to flip state legislatures across the South to combat the gutting of the Voting Rights Act. It’s early days, but I’m loving it so far- it feels good to do something with the ball of rage inside, besides doomscrolling.
Here’s a post about the upcoming state Supreme Court elections in Georgia. Feel free to share with your Georgia peeps so we can spread the word!
